From a cloud bill you cannot explain to one you chose.
Four steps, from naming the cloud to a signed contract. Listing the role and reviewing applicants carry no charge on the Base plan.
-
01 Post
Post a role
- Which cloud, what sits on it, and whether this is build, migrate or maintain
- Mira AI turns it into a scorecard around your environment rather than a certification list
- Cloud salary band checked against payroll data before the role goes live
-
02 Screen
Screen with AI
- Ranked on estates someone has been responsible for, not labs they completed
- Each position in the order carries its reasoning
- Referrals and agency submissions scored on the same scale
-
03 Interview
Run interviews
- Repos, architecture write-ups and certifications linked on the profile
- Book an architecture review or a troubleshooting exercise in a click
- Notes, recordings and team scores kept against the role
-
04 Decide
Decide together
- Wisemonk signs the employment contract as legal employer
- Payroll, provident fund, gratuity and tax withholding handled each month
- An Indian entity is welcome but never a requirement
It reads the work, not the CV.
Mira AI reads every Cloud & Infrastructure application through the work that actually shipped: what the person owned, the constraints they worked inside, and the evidence they can show for both. Every applicant is measured against the same scorecard, in the same way, on the day they apply.
Proof beats a polished CV.
You describe the Cloud & Infrastructure role and what success looks like in it, and Mira AI ranks each applicant with the reasoning written out in sentences you can read and disagree with. The people who rise are the ones whose work backs up the claim. A first read, never the final word.
- Weighs work someone actually shipped above the tools listed on a CV
- Every ranking carries the why, including the near-misses
- Reads for judgement and communication alongside technical depth
- Reorders the shortlist as new Cloud & Infrastructure applicants arrive
Start from what your cloud has to do.
Cloud roles grouped by the job in front of you rather than by job title. An estate not described here can still be opened and scored the same way.
You are moving off your own servers
Migrations are decided by planning and networking rather than by the destination platform. Hire somebody who has finished one, not somebody who has started three.
- Cloud Migration Specialists
- AWS Developers
- Azure Developers
- Infrastructure Engineers
- Linux Administrators
You are on the cloud already and the bill keeps climbing
This is FinOps work: tagging, rightsizing, committed use discounts and the plain discipline of turning things off when nobody needs them.
- FinOps Engineers
- Cloud Cost Analysts
- AWS Developers
- Infrastructure Engineers
You want the architecture designed before you build on it
Landing zones, account structure, identity and network layout are the decisions that become expensive to reverse once workloads are sitting on them.
- Cloud Architects
- AWS Solution Architects
- Azure Architects
- Security Architects
You need somebody to keep the estate running
Patching, backups, access requests, DNS and all the unglamorous work that only becomes visible on the day it stops happening.
- Linux Administrators
- System Administrators
- Network Engineers
- Infrastructure Engineers
Cloud rewards the second migration.
Naming the estate you want owned filters far harder than naming a cloud provider in the advert.
Junior
0 to 2 years
Works inside an account somebody else designed, handling tickets, access requests and routine changes. Needs review on anything touching networking or identity.
Mid-level
3 to 5 years
Owns a workload end to end, including its networking, backups and monitoring. The deepest cloud band in India.
Senior
6 to 9 years
Owns the account structure, the network design and what the estate costs, and gets consulted before anything new is built on it. Notice is usually 60 to 90 days.
Architect / Principal
10 years and up
Sets cloud strategy, designs the landing zones, and decides what is worth migrating at all. A smaller pool and a well-paid one.
AWS, Azure or Google Cloud.
The platform decides who you can realistically hire and what the job looks like once they arrive. How the options compare in India.
| Platform | Hiring pool in India | What the role involves | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Amazon Web Services | The deepest cloud pool in India | The broadest service range, so depth matters more than breadth | Startups, product companies and most greenfield builds |
| Microsoft Azure | Very deep, concentrated in enterprise and capability centres | Identity, hybrid setups and heavy Microsoft integration | Enterprises already running Microsoft across the business |
| Google Cloud | Smaller, and weighted towards data and Kubernetes people | Data platforms, GKE and analytics-led workloads | Data-heavy products and teams already using BigQuery |
| Multi-cloud | Narrow, and frequently overstated on a CV | Abstraction, duplication and twice the operational surface | Genuine regulatory or acquisition reasons, rarely a free choice |
| On-premise / VMware | Steady and ageing, though still deep in India | Hardware, virtualisation and datacentre operations | Existing estates and workloads that genuinely cannot move |
| Hybrid | Mid-sized, usually from enterprise backgrounds | Connectivity, identity federation and split responsibilities | Long migrations and regulated data that has to stay put |
What a cloud brief needs to state.
Choose the ones that matter for your estate and every applicant is measured against them the moment they apply.
Identity and access
Who can do what, and how that is granted, reviewed and taken away again. A surprising share of cloud incidents are access incidents wearing a technical costume.
Networking
Virtual networks, subnets, routing and private connectivity. This is the layer that becomes hardest to change once real workloads depend on it.
Cost ownership
Whether this person is accountable for the bill. If nobody is, it grows, and no amount of tooling fixes that on its own.
Backups and recovery
Not whether backups exist, but when one was last restored successfully. An untested backup is a belief rather than a plan.
Build against managed
Knowing when to run something yourself and when to pay the provider for it. Self-hosting to save money frequently costs more in salaries than it saves in fees.
Documented decisions
Why the architecture ended up this way. The next engineer either inherits the reasoning or repeats the same mistakes at greater expense.
Start with the tool. Add reach. Add people.

Bespoke
Some roles need a person on the phone. Our recruiters take over sourcing and interview coordination, working the pipeline Mira has already built — so you're paying for judgment and conversations, not for admin.
Contingent fee of 10%, 12.5% or 15% of first-year salary, set by role seniority. Under a talent agreement, billed only on a joined hire.
Frequently asked questions
What engineering and IT leads ask before opening a first cloud role in India.
How do I hire AWS or Azure developers in India?
Open the role describing your estate rather than a certification: which cloud, what runs on it, and whether you need it built, migrated or maintained. Mira AI drafts the job description and a scorecard around that environment, the role reaches our candidate community, and each application is scored as it lands. You review the ranked list and Wisemonk employs whoever you settle on.
Should I hire for AWS, Azure or Google Cloud?
Hire for the cloud you are already on, because the cost of moving a workload to suit the talent market is far greater than the difference in salary. Starting fresh, AWS has the deepest pool in India and the widest service range. Azure is close behind and dominant wherever Microsoft already runs the business. Google Cloud is smaller here and skews towards data and Kubernetes people. Below architect level, a strong engineer moves between clouds in a couple of months.
How much does it cost to hire a cloud engineer in India?
Cloud infrastructure prices alongside strong back-end engineering, with architects and migration leads well above that. Linux and system administration sits at the more affordable end. What moves the number most is whether the role carries accountability for the bill and the availability of the estate, rather than which platform is named. When you open a role we check your band against our payroll data before it goes live.
Do I need a cloud engineer or a DevOps engineer?
A cloud engineer owns the estate: accounts, networking, identity, cost and the architecture underneath everything. A DevOps engineer owns the path to production: pipelines, infrastructure as code and deployment. Small teams get one person doing both, and that is fine until the cloud bill or the network design needs somebody thinking about it full time. Our DevOps and SRE page covers the other half of this split.
Why do so many Indian cloud CVs list the same certifications?
Certification culture is genuinely strong in India, partly because services companies fund and require them, so a wall of badges tells you less here than it might elsewhere. That is not a reason to dismiss them; it is a reason not to stop there. Ask what the certified person has actually been responsible for: an account, a migration, a budget, an outage. Mira AI weighs environments owned above the certifications listed for exactly this reason.
Do cloud engineers in India work US or UK hours?
A working overlap with the UK and Europe is normal. A full US shift narrows the field, though infrastructure teams in India are well used to follow-the-sun cover. The question candidates weigh most carefully is not the working day but whether the role carries out-of-hours responsibility for the estate, so be specific about that early.
Can someone in India manage our cloud if the data must stay in our region?
Yes, and this is a common arrangement. Where your data physically sits is a matter of which regions you deploy into, and is independent of where the engineer managing it happens to live. What you control separately is access: which roles they hold, what they can read as opposed to administer, and whether production data is visible at all. Set those boundaries in the brief so they are screened for rather than negotiated afterwards.
Do I need an entity in India to employ a cloud engineer?
No. Wisemonk acts as the legal employer, signs the contract and runs payroll along with provident fund, gratuity, ESI and income tax withholding. The engineer takes direction from your team. Where an Indian entity already exists in your group, the hire can be placed on it instead, and that is decided at the offer.
What does senior mean for a cloud engineer in India?
Roughly six to nine years, owning the account structure, the network design and the monthly cost of the estate, and being consulted before new workloads land on it. Certifications accumulate quickly at this level, so write the responsibilities you want carried into the scorecard rather than reading the badges.
Can one person handle a cloud migration?
One experienced person can lead a migration, and often should, because a single owner keeps the sequencing coherent. What they cannot do alone is carry the application changes, the testing and the cutover weekend. The pattern that works is one senior migration owner supported by the teams who know each workload. The pattern that fails is handing the whole thing to a capable generalist and waiting.
