How do you evaluate a computer vision engineer in India?

Ask about the data, not the model. Model architectures are a solved conversation and every candidate can name the current ones. What separates people is whether they have dealt with the part that actually breaks vision systems, which is images that do not look like the training set.

The failure they could not fix with more data: Ask about a model that worked in testing and failed in deployment. Real answers involve lighting, camera angle, motion blur, a lens change or a seasonal shift nobody anticipated. Someone who only describes accuracy improvements has worked on benchmarks rather than on a system.

How they got labels: Ask who annotated their training data and how they checked it.
